The German affiliate of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Physicians in Social Responsibility (IPPNW) e. V. is looking for an intern in the Department of Social Responsibility for its office in Berlin from July 21st 2025. The internship will primarily involve supporting the planning, implementation, and follow-up of the Global Health Summer School on the theme "Linking Climate Justice, Health and Peace", which will take place from August 31st to September 6th, 2025.
About IPPNW Germany
IPPNW Germany was founded forty years ago as a federation of medical organisations for the prevention of nuclear war during the Cold War. Since then, the organisation has worked to avert
threats to life and health by organising events, actions and campaigns, and promoting activism in the areas of nuclear disarmament and nuclear energy, peace and medicine in social responsibility.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Providing administrative and logistical support to the project team in preparation for the Summer School
- Coordinating communication with participants and invited speakers
- Assisting in the preparation of background and informational materials
- Supporting follow-up activities such as accounting, reporting, and maintaining the alumni network
- Contributing to social media coverage and documentation
- Support for other IPPNW activities, particularly the organization of an expert conference and event series with a visiting Kurdish-Turkish delegation
Internship Conditions
- Duration: Minimum 8 weeks
- Compensation: 450€/month for mandatory internships
- For voluntary internships (non-mandatory), a one-time expense allowance of up to 840€ may be available
Your Profile
- Interest in/or knowledge of global health topics
- Strong command of written and spoken English; at least basic German
- Strong communication and intercultural skills
- Alignment with the values and mission of IPPNW
- Experience in event organization is an advantage
- Reliable, well-organized, and able to work independently
- Proficiency in standard office software; familiarity with social media is a plus
